Card declined? Here's why
Most declines have a simple cause. Your dashboard shows the reason we received; this page explains what it means.
What you get
Card limit reached
The payment is above the card's daily, monthly or lifetime limit. Raise the limit or top up.
Insufficient card balance
The card doesn't hold enough funds. Move money from your wallet to the card.
3-D Secure not completed
The merchant asked for a one-time code. Find it in your dashboard and retry.
Merchant risk checks
Ad platforms run their own checks and may decline a card for reasons we can't see. Try another card type.
Billing details mismatch
Use the billing name and address shown on the card details screen.
Card frozen
Frozen cards decline every payment. Unfreeze it in one tap.
Card declines vs platform declines
A payment can fail in two places. Knowing which one tells you what to fix.
| Source | Typical reasons | Who can fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Card issuer | Low balance or limit, frozen card, unfinished 3-D Secure, billing mismatch | You, in your dashboard, usually in minutes |
| Ad platform | The platform's own risk checks, account restrictions, unsupported card type for your country | The platform. Contact their support or try a different card type |
Your dashboard shows a reason when the decline came from the card. If the platform blocked the charge before it reached us, you won't see it in your card activity.
Facebook and Instagram ads payment failed
Check the card's balance and limit against the charge, make sure the billing details match your card details, and complete any 3-D Secure step. A payment that stays pending usually means Meta will retry. Keep enough balance on the card until it clears.
If Meta shows the card as not usable while the card side looks fine, the decision is Meta's. Its help center explains your account's options.

Google Ads payment declined or authorization failed
An authorization failure usually means Google's verification or charge was refused by the card: too little balance, a low limit or a billing-address mismatch. Add a small buffer, copy the billing details exactly, then retry.

TikTok Ads payment failing
Check balance, limit, billing details and 3-D Secure first. Also check that the card currency suits your ad account's currency, which is fixed when the account is created.

About GetVCCAcceptance and fair use
Ad platforms and merchants decide which payments they accept, so no card provider can guarantee acceptance. Cards are for legitimate advertising and business payments only, never for getting around a platform's rules or bans.

Why cards get declined FAQ
Common causes are a card limit below the charge, an unfinished 3-D Secure step, or Meta's own risk checks. Check the decline reason in your dashboard first.
Google often places a small verification charge. If the card limit or balance is too low, or the billing details don't match, that charge is declined.
Meta is usually waiting to retry the charge. Keep enough balance and limit on the card until the payment clears.
The card refused Google's verification or charge, usually because of balance, limit or billing details. Fix those and retry.
No. Merchants and ad platforms make the final decision on every payment. A good provider tells you why a decline happened.
